Who uses Doula Services?

First time Mums... enjoy the doula’s kindly assistance information, and encouragement to become confident, in their own mothering skills.

Experienced Mums... can rest and care for their newborn with peace of mind knowing that the siblings and household are well taken care of.

Women who have had a Cesarean Section... appreciate the personal nurturing a postpartum Doula provides whilst recovering from surgery.

Women with Multiples (twins, triplets)... enjoy the extra helping hands and organizational assistance.

Those with little or no support system... especially value the loving, motherly help and calming presence of a doula.

Congratulations! You’re Having a Baby!

At this precious time of your life you deserve as much support as possible. Sometimes it is difficult to decide just what and how much support you need and who is going to give it to you.

The word Doula originates from the Greek word meaning "maidservant." For centuries it has been the tradition of many cultures to present a doula to a new mother. The concept of an experienced woman attending a birth and helping when the baby arrives is as old as birth itself, yet so new and unfamiliar to many of us today.

It takes a special woman to become a Doula. A professional, nurturing Doula provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a new mother and her family during the childbearing year.

She is particularly sensitive to the needs of new mothers, helping women rest, heal and recover from the birth experience, while freeing them from household chores, sibling care and any other task that may seem overwhelming.

For additional information, please call our office. We will carefully match your family with a Doula based on your specific needs, preferences and geographic location.
